Scarecrow Festival blowing into town
It’s just about time to get your spook on.
The 19th annual Scarecrow Festival is about to creep its way into the Edmonton Expo Centre at Northlands next weekend.
The family-friendly festival, which runs from Oct 14-16, is also a fundraiser for the ABC Head Start program which helps low-income families and their children achieve success in learning and in their lives.
The spook-fest features haunted houses, creepy crafts, trick-or-treating and even some fun new ghastly games.
There are actually two haunted houses, one for those who love a good scare, and a ‘friendlier’ house for the littler ones.
Kids who want to look really ghoulish can head to the Mortal Wounds booth for some gruesome scars and injuries, inflicted painlessly by festival volunteers.
Shauna Heryford with the Scarecrow Festival says the event is a great way to get kids, and adults, excited for the spooky fun.
“I think it’s a neat kickoff to Halloween. And what I appreciate, because I’m a mom, is that it’s not weather-dependent. You’re inside, there are family-focused events, and I don’t have to worry that there will be crazy things that are too scary for my kids.”
